My name is Tom McKay, and I’ve been investing in real estate since age 19. I come from humble means, and did not start out with a lot of money. At the time, I was renting a space to run my cabinet shop, which I was also living out of. When my landlord caught wind of me living there, he told me I can run the shop there, but must find another place to live. I never thought I’d be able to buy and own a place to live at the time as I had no credit, little money, and I was only 19 so I thought I would need to rent. I then discovered the power of owner financing. My first deal I got owner financed with no money down. This allowed me to buy a place to live, which I rented out part of to help with the payments. This is when I became hooked on real estate.
